Endorsed in the 2024 Republican primary election by Gov. Greg Abbott. Abbott is endorsing incumbents who supported his voucher bill, HB 1, in the fourth special session of the 88th Legislature.

Endorsed in the 2022 Republican primary and general election by the Texas Home School Coalition, which supports using public funds for private and home-schools, giving private and home-schooled students greater access to public education services, and limiting state oversight of private and home schools. She also received the group's endorsement in the 2020, 2018, and 2016 elections.

Endorsed by the editorial board of the Houston Chronicle for the 2022 Republican primary election. She previously received their endorsement in the 2020 general election.

Backed by the pro-voucher Texas Federation for Children PAC during the 2022 primary election. The group is affiliated with the American Federation for Children (AFC) founded by former U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos to promote school choice legislation and fund candidates around the country who support private school vouchers.

Swanson was endorsed in the 2018 Republican primary by Texans for Fiscal Responsibility (Empower Texans), a group that has supported budget cuts and limiting state spending on public education; eliminating educators' and other public employees' rights to use payroll deduction for payment of their voluntary dues to professional organizations; private school vouchers; and privatizing the management of existing public schools. Swanson also received the group's endorsement in 2016.
