First elected to the Texas House in 2021. Harrison won a special election in September 2021 for the House District 10 seat. Current term expires January 2027. Running for re-election in 2026.

Harrison previously ran unsuccessfully for U.S. Congress (Texas’s 10th Congressional District) during a special election in July 2021.

Supported by one or more anti-public education organizations or individuals in the 2024 Texas primaries.

Endorsed in the 2022 Republican primary election by the Texas Home School Coalition, which supports using public funds for private and home-schools, giving private and home-schooled students greater access to public education services, and limiting state oversight of private and home schools. 

According to his 2021 campaign website, Harrison was endorsed by former U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos.
