Bob Hall

Branch: Texas Senate District: 2 Status: incumbent

Additional Information from ATPE

First elected to the Texas Senate in 2014. Current term expires January 2027. Running for re-election in the 2026 Republican primary.

Hall challenged former incumbent Sen. Bob Deuell in the March 2014 Republican primary and defeated him in a May 2014 runoff election.

Endorsed in the 2022 general election and Republican primary election by the Texas Home School Coalition PAC, which supports using public funds for private and home-schools, giving private and home-schooled students greater access to public education services, and limiting state oversight of private and home schools. Hall also received the group's endorsement in the 2018 election.

The editorial board for the Dallas Morning News declined to make a recommendation in this race for the 2022 general election.

Endorsed in the 2018 primary election by Texans for Fiscal Responsibility (Empower Texans), a group that has supported budget cuts and limiting state spending on public education, reducing educators' rights and benefits, and funding private school vouchers. Hall also received the group's endorsement in 2014.

Statement from Hall's 2014 campaign website: "State and local government spending from ALL sources should increase only by the sum of population growth plus inflation and no more. I will fight for a state constitutional amendment to set this limit in order to protect current and future taxpayers from excessive spending."

Hall previously filed to run for the same Senate seat in 2012 but was disqualified by the Republican Party for failing to meet Texas residency requirements.

Hall signed a pledge in 2012 to limit government spending and make it more difficult for the legislature to pass spending increases for public services such as education.
