Ana Hernandez

First elected to the Texas House in 2005. Current term expires January 2027. Running for re-election in the 2026 Democratic primary.

Hernandez won a special election in December 2005 to complete the term of the late Rep. Joe Moreno following his death in a car accident. Prior to her election, Hernandez had worked for Moreno and two other Texas legislators.

Ran unopposed for reelection in 2020.

In the 2018 election, she was recommended favorably by Texans for Public Education, a grassroots educators' group that researched and rated candidates in the 2018 election based on their stances toward public schools.
